I remember growing up I always wanted a little brother, and then you were born and my eight-year-old self thought, “maybe a little sister wouldn’t be so bad”. Now fourteen years later you have become one of the closest people to me. We share a lot of the same interests and I’m lucky to be able to have you to talk to and joke around with all the time. I want to be able to teach you everything that I know and the things I’ve learned growing up as the older sibling.
I know that I sometimes will ignore you when you want to tell me something you’re excited about or that I can be a bit mean when I’m stressed or in a bad mood but that is something that I’m working on. I don’t want you to feel like you can’t talk to me because I always want to be there for you when you need me.
I know that we are at different stages in our lives and soon I will be moving out and starting my own life, which is why I want to make you this promise to try and be kinder and more attentive, and to always be there to listen to your problems and your stories even as you grow older. I promise to always look out for you and try my best to be someone you can proudly look up to.
